Website hosted by 877host.com but email hosted by client problems!
Solution
We have a few clients that host their website with us, but have their own email server. Some have reported problems sending/receiving emails to/from 877host.com or other domains they own that are hosted by 877host.com.
Reason is actually very simple. Basically when we create an account on the server, there is an entry in a file called /etc/localdomains. This file tells the server what domains are local to it. So any domain found in /etc/localdomains mail will be delivered locally, without any MX checks since the server sees the domain setup on it. In this case, we would put the domain in /etc/remotedomains so it forces an MX check and will deliver the mail properly.
If we are hosting your website, but you have your own email server and are having problems sending/receiving emails to/from 877host.com or other domains you own that are hosted by 877host.com, please open a support ticket and we will make the above update for your account.
